15 Oct, 2021

H.E. Rafiu Adejare Bello and Mr. Samuel Omoniyi, Counselor, represented Mission at the 2nd Edition of the Mexico Shallow and Deep-Water Conference that was held at the Carmen Conference Centre Campeche, Mexico, from 12th – 14th October, 2021. The event witnessed the convergence of more than 3,000 professionals from the offshore community, regulatory and government establishments, operating companies, and oil service companies. The off-shore/on-shore operating companies proposed long-term strategies and approaches in conformity with the Paris Agreement of 2015 aimed at achieving zero emissions by 2050. Some of the strategies include accelerating technology and innovation stewardship toward the development of low and zero-carbon fuels, products and solutions; advancements in emission reduction technologies such as carbon capture, utilisation and sequestration (CCUS) in high CO2 fields; reduction in hydrocarbon flaring & venting; capturing methane emissions; mitigating Green House Gas (GHG) emissions from operations through energy efficiency; improvement and use of low carbon or renewable energy; and promoting recycling throughout the value chain.
