Ambassador Rafiu Adejare Bello is Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Mexican States with concurrent accreditation to Costa Rica, Guatemala and Panama, a position he took up in June, 2021 and occupies to date. Before assuming this position, Ambassador Bello held the following political positions: elected member of the Osun State House of Assembly on the platform of the Democratic Party of Nigeria (DPN) in December, 1997; elected member of the Osun State House of Assembly to represent Ede North Constituency under the platform of the All Peoples Party from 1999-2003 and became the Minority Leader of the House; re-elected as a member of the Osun State House of Assembly to represent Ede North Constituency in 2003-2007 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party and was unanimously elected Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly from 3rd June 2003-2007; re-elected a member of the Osun State House of Assembly to represent Ede North Constituency for 2007-2011 and became Speaker of the House for a second term. He is a former Executive Member of the Commonwealth Parliamentarian Association, former Vice-Chairman (Southwest) Conference of Speakers, and former Ag. Chairman, Conference of Speakers of Nigeria immediately after Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi from 2007-2008. Ambassador Bello hails from Ede North in Osun State and was born on 23rd August, 1961. He holds a degree in Law from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
